BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The No. 23 Lock Haven men's wrestling team closed a busy two days of competition with action at today's (Sunday, Nov. 12) Journeymen Collegiate Classic, an early-season round-robin style tournament held in respective pools. Six Bald Eagles were in action today.
Leading the way today was
Kaiden Wagner (Lewisburg, Pa./Lewisburg) and
Patrick Jackson (Martinsburg, W.Va./Spring Mills)
Lucas Kapusta (Jeanette, Pa./Hempfield Area) and
Cael Black (Warren, Pa./Eisenhower) turned in solid outings, while
Billy Talmadge (Branchville, N.J./High Point) and
Ethan Miller (York, Pa./Central York) rounded out Lock Haven's competitors today.
Wagner went 2-1 with a major decision on the way to a second-place finish in the 157-pound D pool.
Jackson went 2-1 with a major decision and he finished second in the 174-pound B pool.
Kapusta went 2-1 with a major decision and a pin on the way to a third-place finish in the 149-pound E pool. Black was 2-1 with a pin and finished third overall in the 184 D pool.
Talmadge was 1-2 (149 lbs. D) and Miller was 1-2 (285 lbs. E).
Today's round robin tournament action capped a busy two days for Lock Haven. Yesterday (Nov. 11), the nationally-ranked Bald Eagles opened the dual portion of their schedule vs. No. 13 Arizona State and Army.
Leading the way yesterday in the two duals was
Anthony Noto (Lima, N.Y./Honeoye Falls-Lima).
Earlier this week, Noto jumped to No. 1 in the national rankings and the nation's top-ranked 125-pounder showed why he's No. 1, as he dominated in his much-anticipated season-debut.
