LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven women's volleyball team will compete in its first Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Tournament since 2015 when it travels to Shippensburg University in a first round match up on Tuesday (Nov. 14).
Lock Haven earned the fourth seed in the East after finishing the regular season with an overall record of 11-12 and a 5-9 record in the PSAC Eastern Division.
The Bald Eagles conference record put them in a three-way tie with West Chester (5-9 PSAC) and Bloomsburg (5-9 PSAC). However, Lock Haven finished the season with a plus-four in the win column for sets over the other two schools, which secured the tiebreaker and earned the Bald Eagles the fourth seed in the tournament.
Shippensburg earned the top seed in the East with a dominate regular season which they finished 22-8 overall and 13-1 in the PSAC Eastern division.

Lock Haven leads the all-time series against the Raiders, 26-18, dating back to 1992.
The Bald Eagles have enjoyed the bulk of their success at home, accumulating a 16-7 record. The Raiders lead the series 8-9 on their home floor.
The Bald Eagles dominated the series from 1996 to 2014, winning 23 of the 26 meetings, however, the Raiders are riding a five-game winning streak into Tuesday night.
LAST MEETING
The Bald Eagles will look avenge a pair of defeats at the hand of the Raiders this season as they fell at home and on the road, 3-1.
In the last meeting in Lock Haven, after falling 25-17 in the opening set, the Bald Eagles rallied to steal the second set 27-25 in extra play. The Bald Eagles totaled 11 kills during the rally, while limiting the Shippensburg attack to a 0.03 hit percentage.
However, the Raiders bounced back with a 25-15 victory in set three before closing out the match by taking the fourth set, 25-21.

THE TURNAROUND
Under first-year head coach
Mike Kraft, the Bald Eagles dream season continues, finishing the regular season 11-12 overall and 5-9 in the PSAC East after winning just one contest during all of 2022.
The Bald Eagles reached double-digit victories for the first time since 2018, while reaching the postseason for the first time since 2015.
Lock Haven also finished with five sweeps over opponents this season, after finishing with none in 2022.
The Haven also earned a pair of PSAC East Offensive Athlete of the Week honors, by way of setter junior setter Kelly Gatson and junior outside hitter
Emma Kelly.
WHEN IT MATTERED MOST
Securing enough match and set victories leading into the final weekend of the season, the Bald Eagles controlled their own fate in reaching the PSAC postseason tournament.
The Bald Eagles had a tough task in front of them, as they had to travel to Millersville University and West Chester and pick up one victory and avoid a sweep.
Well, they did just that, soaring to a 3-0 sweep over Millersville on Friday night, before stealing a set during extra play in a 3-1 loss to West Chester, which secured them a postseason berth.
LOCK HAVEN IN THE PSAC TOURNAMENT
The Bald Eagles are six-time PSAC Women's Volleyball Tournament Champions: 1996, 1999, 2000, 2003, 2004 & 2006.
The Bald Eagles last postseason appearance came in 2015. As the No. 4 seed the Bald Eagles traveled to the top-seeded Pitt Johnstown and fell in three sets.
Lock Haven's last victory in the PSAC Championship Tournament came in 2012 when the Bald Eagles took down Cal (Pa.) in the quarterfinals, before falling in the semifinals to Gannon. The 2012 squad earned a trip to the NCAA DII Tournament and fell in round one to Clarion.
LOOKING AHEAD
A victory over Shippensburg on Tuesday would land the Bald Eagles a trip to the PSAC Championship semifinals on Friday night, awaiting the winner of Clarion (No. 2 in West) and IUP (No. 3 in West).
