SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Lock Haven men's soccer team (7-8-3, 4-6-2 PSAC East) scored twice in the second half and secured a shutout to down Shippensburg University (4-9-3, 1-9-2 PSAC East), 2-1, in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division match in the Bald Eagles' season finale on Friday (Nov. 3).
The Bald Eagles closed out the season strong, winning three of their final five matches in the PSAC East, while winning five of eight overall.
Brady Freiwald (Altoona, Pa./Altoona) wraps up his first year as the Bald Eagles' full-time starting goalkeeper in style, securing his fifth shutout of the season. Freiwald finished the 90 minutes with three saves, moving his total to 62 on the season.
After a defensive battle through 45 minutes that resulted in a scoreless first half, the Bald Eagles caught fire, scoring consecutive goals in the 46
th and 49
th minute to lead 2-0.
Graham Thurley (State College, Pa./Montclair St.) broke the scoreless tie, unassisted, before
Connor Swope (Dillsburg, Pa./Northern York) extended The Haven's lead to 2-0 off a helper from
Tom Pombor (Williamsport, Pa./Williamsport).
Swope finished the season with three goals, while Thurley improved his 2023 total to two. The assist was
Tom Pombors' second on the year.
The Bald Eagles led 7-3 for shots-on-goal, with all seven coming from different players.
