FAIRFIELD, Conn. - The No. 7 Lock Haven women's wrestling team went 2-1 on the day while competing at the Sacred Heart quad meet, held Sunday, Dec. 10.
 
The nationally-ranked Bald Eagles opened the day with a 45-3 win over New England College, and then topped Delaware Valley 37-5 in a second lopsided victory.
 
Lock Haven closed the busy day vs. host and No. 6 Sacred Heart, and the Pioneers won the dual 28-19.
 
With the 2-1 outing today in hand, Lock Haven moved to 3-1 overall on the season.
 
The Bald Eagles rounded out the busy day of three matches vs. nationally-ranked Scared Heart.
 
In the top-10 clash vs. No. 6 Sacred Heart, both Kaelani Shufeldt (Huntington Beach, Calif./Marina) and Grace Stem (Snow Shoe, Pa./Bald Eagle) won for Lock Haven. Ranked fourth in the nation at 109 pounds, Shufeldt earned a pin in just 3:36 and Stem rolled to another victory by tech fall. Stem is ranked No. 3 at 143.
 
Lily Sherer (Shohola, Pa./Delaware Valley) and Madison Matta (Blue Ridge, Pa./Waynesboro) added wins for The Haven vs. the nationally-ranked Pioneers. Sherer won by tech fall at 130 and Matta pinned her Sacred Heart opponent at 136. Stem's victory, Lock Haven's third straight in the dual put the Bald Eagles up, but Sacred Heart closed the match with three straight wins to seal the top-10 win.
 
Lock Haven opened the day with the big win over New England College. The Bald Eagles were credited with victory in all 10 bouts including wins in all four of the contested matches. Jayleah Pletz (Shillington, Pa./Governor Mifflin) won by pin at 123 and Azariah Moore (Montross, Va./Westmoreland) won by tech fall at 170. Both Lucy Maris (Satellite Beach, Fla./Satellite) and Lindsay Laws (Halifax, Mass./Silver Lake) won by decision.
 
In the win over Delaware Valley, Lock Haven won eight bouts including four pins and three tech falls. Emma Heslin (Marlborough, Conn./RHAM) won by tech to open the match at 101, and both Stem and Moore won by tech fall. Pletz, Sherer, Matta and Trinity Monaghan (Harleysville, Pa./Souderton) won by way of pin.
