LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The No. 7 Lock Haven women's wrestling team will return to action on Saturday, Dec. 16 at the 2023 Kalahari Duals. The event is being hosted by Heidelberg University and will be held at the Kalahari Resorts and Conventions Center in Sandusky, Ohio.
 
The Bald Eagles are scheduled to compete in four duals. Lock Haven will open the day Saturday vs. No. 23 Simpson College at 10 a.m. and then take on Augustana College (Ill.) at 11:30 a.m., before a 1 p.m. showdown with No. 13 Tiffin. To date, The Haven's fourth match is scheduled for 2:30 p.m., but the opponent is - to be determined.
 
Lock Haven enters the weekend ranked No. 7 in the latest National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) NCAA Women's Wrestling Coaches' Poll and the Bald Eagles are 3-1 overall in duals this season.
 
Lock Haven is coming off an impressive 2-1 showing at the Sacred Heart Quad, held Dec. 10. At Sacred Heart, The Haven soared by New England College and Delaware Valley, but ended the day with a loss to No. 6 Sacred Heart in an exciting top-10 clash. The Bald Eagles led at Sacred Heart late, but the Pioneers rallied for three wins in the final three bouts of the dual to seal the victory.
 
Last season, the Bald Eagles won nine total dual matches and finished the season at 9-5.
 
Individually, both Kaelani Shufeldt and Grace Stem are ranked at their respective weight classes. Shufeldt is ranked No. 4 at 109 pounds and Stem is ranked No. 3 at 143.
 
Last week, Stem was named the NWCA Region 1 Women's Wrestler of the Month for November 2023.
