WASHINGTON, Pa. – The Lock Haven baseball team (2-3) wrapped up their weekend at the California (Pa.) tournament where they took the field to face Wheeling (1-0) at Wild Things Park, which saw the Cardinals grab their first win, claiming a 12-3 victory. Â
The scoring kicked off when Garrett Nepert (Preston, Md./Colonel Richardson (Chesapeake County CC)) sent his first home run of the season over the wall to give LHU a 1-0 lead in the top of the second. An RBI single evened up the score for Wheeling in the bottom of the second.Â
Andrew Ramirez (Lewisburg, Pa./Lewisburg) regained the lead for Lock Haven with an RBI single, sending Blaise Zeiders (Selinsgrove, Pa./Selinsgrove) home in the top of the third inning.Â
Wheeling proceeded to score five unanswered runs to take a 6-2 lead after the fifth inning.Â
Brendan Jordan (Langhorne, Pa./Neshaminy (Bucks County CC)) scored off a fielder's choice by Zeiders to score a run in the top of the sixth inning.Â
Holding a 6-3 lead going into the final three innings, the Cardinals posted six more runs to end the Bald Eagles stay, earning the 12-3 victory. Â

Lock Haven hits the diamond again next weekend (Feb. 25-26) when the Bald Eagles travel to Bloomfield, NJ for a four-game series with Bloomfield, consisting of two seven inning games on Saturday and Sunday.
