WINTER HAVEN, Fla. – The Lock Haven University softball team (4-4) returned to action today (Friday, March 10) as the Bald Eagles opened a scheduled eight-game swing in the Sunshine State. The Haven opened the Florida trip today versus Wheeling and picked up a solid 9-5 victory. Â
In the second game of the day, the Bald Eagles fell to Ashland 10-4. With the Day-1 split in Florida today, Lock Haven pushed its 2023 season record to 4-4 overall. Â

The Bald Eagles scored nine runs on 12 total hits and several players stood out at the plate, including Delaney Good (Mifflinburg, Pa./Mifflinburg) who was 3-for-3 with two runs scored and two RBIs. Â
Riley McClellan (Granville Summit, Pa./Troy) hit a three-run home run in the fifth inning and Summer Peters (Lancaster, Pa./Lampeter-Strasburg) was 2-for-4 with two runs scored, a RBI, and two doubles. Maci Brodzina (Warriors Mark, Pa./Tyrone Area) also stood strong at the plate and finished with a pair of hits and a run scored.Â
Pitcher Jada Schellhammer (Tamaqua, Pa./Tamaqua) recorded the victory in the circle for Lock Haven. Â
The Bald Eagles dropped their second game of the day to Ashland (4-14), 10-4. Â
Despite the loss, Peters had another strong game at the plate, as did Rianna Trexler (Bellefonte, Pa./Bellefonte). Peters was 2-for-4 with two RBIs, and Trexler recorded an impressive three-hit game, while adding an RBI.Â
Pitcher Kinley Gioglio (Stroudsburg, Pa./Stroudsburg) was strong in relief and struck out four over the final 4 2/3 innings. Â
