LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University baseball team (7-6, 1-2 PSAC) capped its three-game Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division series with Bloomsburg University (6-6, 2-1 PSAC East) today (Thursday, March 16) in what proved to be the Bald Eagles' 2023 home-opener. Visiting-Bloomsburg won 7-5 and took the first divisional series of the regular season.
Today, the two teams combined for 12 runs on 21 hits. Lock Haven scored its five runs on nine hits and Bloomsburg used seven runs on 12 hits to claim victory.
Justin Lichtenwalner (Lancaster, Pa./Hempfield) led the way for LHU with a 2-for-4 plate-performance. He scored once and drove in a pair of runs.
Blaise Zeiders (Selinsgrove, Pa./Selinsgrove) added a two-hit game for Lock Haven.
The offense got going early today as LHU and Bloomsburg combined for seven runs in the first inning. The Huskies struck quick, and led 3-0 after the top half of the first, but Lock Haven responded in a big way. The Bald Eagles scored four in the bottom of the first, and led 4-3 after one. Lichtenwalner highlighted the inning with an RBI-double.

Aedan Walter (Milford, Pa./Delaware Valley) struck out eight over the first five innings.
The two teams were tied 5-5, but the Huskies plated a pair of runs in the top of the eighth to secure the road-win. The two teams split a doubleheader on Sunday at Bloomsburg.

Lock Haven is scheduled to open a three-game PSAC East series on the road tomorrow (Friday, March 17) at nationally-ranked West Chester. Friday's game is set for a 2 p.m. start and the two teams will play at doubleheader in Lock Haven on Saturday, March 18.
