PHILADELPHIA – The Lock Haven University baseball team (6-4) closed a three-game weekend set at Chestnut Hill (1-8) with a scheduled nine-inning game today (Sunday, March 5), and the Bald Eagles came away with a 7-5 win.

Yesterday (Saturday), the two teams split a doubleheader. Today, Lock Haven won 7-5 to close the weekend series.

Blaise Zeiders (Selinsgrove, Pa./Selinsgrove) set career-highs on the day. The Bald Eagles returned to the field today, and scored the first run of the game off a Zeiders double which drove in
Justin Lichtenwalner (Lancaster, Pa./Hempfield) in the top of the first.

Chestnut Hill gained the lead after dropping three runs in the bottom of the second inning to take an early 3-1 advantage.

Francisco Taveras's (Muhlenberg, Pa./Muhlenberg (Lehigh Carbon CC)) notched an
RBI in the top of the third to close the gap to one, scoring
Gavin Troutman (Boyertown, Pa./Oley Valley).

The Griffins responded quickly with a long ball over the wall to increase the lead to 5-2 in the bottom of the third inning.

With runners on base,
Garrett Nepert (Preston, Md./Colonel Richardson (Chesapeake County CC)) pushed a run in to score in the top of the fourth.
Brendan Jordan (Langhorne, Pa./Neshaminy (Bucks County CC)) inflated the momentum, smacking a sacrifice fly to score
Joe Shannon (Warminster, Pa./William Tennent (Mercer CC)), making the score 5-4.

Zeiders continued his dominant day, blasting a two-run shot to push the Bald Eagles back in front, retaking the lead in the top of the fifth, 6-5.

Lichtenwalner finished off the afternoon with a final run in the top of the ninth to claim the final game of the series, 7-5.
For Zeiders, he led the team with his career high of three RBIs today and a home run to finish off his impressive day.

Up Next for Lock Haven:
The Bald Eagles will return to action on Friday, March 10 at 2 p.m. when they host Bloomsburg University in a scheduled nine-inning game. Friday's game will mark Lock Haven's 2023 home-opener and the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division opener for both teams.
