LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University lacrosse team (4-9, 2-6 PSAC West) fell to visiting Slippery Rock (8-4, 4-3 PSAC West), 14-8, today in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Western Division play.
Despite the loss,
Josey Shaffer (Westminster, Md./Manchester Valley) turned in a stellar outing for Lock Haven. She finished with a game-high four goals.
Gabby Gunnip (Jordan, N.Y./Jordan Elbridge) added two goals, and both
Abby Katrinak (Strongsville, Ohio/ Strongsville) and
Abby Hampson (Adamstown, Md./Tuscarora) each scored once.
Haven goalkeeper
Dana Mirigliano (Springfield, Pa./Springfield) stood strong on the goal line and did all she could to carry the Bald Eagles with 11 saves. She added six ground balls.
Defender
Elizabeth Newman (Hummelstown, Pa./Hershey) finished with two caused turnovers and one ground ball.
Lock Haven held a narrow 2-1 lead after the first quarter and Slippery Rock clung to a 5-3 halftime lead. The visitors pulled away behind nine second-half goals.
