CLARION, Pa. – The Lock Haven University women's tennis team (8-4, 3-3 PSAC East) closed a two-match weekend with a Sunday Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) East-West Crossover at Clarion (0-11, 0-5 PSAC West). The Bald Eagles soared by the hosts, 6-1.
Lock Haven swept doubles play and won five of six singles' matches.
Maddy Reeves (Montoursville, Pa./Montoursville),
Mia Shuler (Williamsport, Pa./Williamsport),
Olivia Anastos (Lock Haven, Pa./Central Mountain),
Christy McLean (Jim Thorpe, Pa./Jim Thorpe) and
Olivia Sharp (York, Pa./York County School of Technology) posted wins in singles play.
At No. 1 singles, Reeves downed Alexis Strouse 6-1, 2-6, 7-6 (7-3) in a thriller.
Shuler won 6-3, 6-3 over Alyson Fisher at No. 2 singles.
Anastos downed Josie Beckerleg 6-3, 6-4 at No. 3 singles.
Clarion picked up win at No. 4 singles.
McLean won 6-3, 6-4 at No. 5 singles, and Sharp was credited with a win at No. 6 singles.
Reeves and Shuler won 6-1 at No. 1 doubles, and Anastos and Sharp won at No. 2 doubles, 6-3.
Up Next for Lock Haven:
The Bald Eagles will travel to Kutztown on Tuesday, April 18 for a 4 p.m. PSAC East contest. The match will mark Lock Haven's 2022-23 regular season finale as LHU looks to close an already notable season on another high note.
