LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University baseball team (17-16) fell to visiting Clarion (9-27), 17-2, today in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) East-West crossover.
Today's loss snapped the Bald Eagles five-game win streak. All five of those wins came by way of the friendly confines of Watkins Field, and today's action capped a six-game homestand for Lock Haven.
Clarion scored its 17 runs on 18 hits and the Bald Eagles scored two runs on five hits.
Sean Perkins (Berlin, N.J./Eastern Regional),
Justin Lichtenwalner (Lancaster, Pa./Hempfield),
Garrett Nepert (Preston, Md./Colonel Richardson (Chesapeake County CC)),
Joe Shannon (Warminster, Pa./William Tennent (Mercer CC)) and
Gabe Stirr (Canadensis, Pa./Pocono Mtn. East) all recorded hits for Lock Haven.
Shannon had a double and
Gavin Troutman (Boyertown, Pa./Oley Valley) was credited with a stolen base.
Pitchers
Garrett Starr (Dubois, Pa./Dubois),
Rylan Bailey (Lewistown, Pa./Mifflin County) and
Andrew Kramer (Ballston Spa, N.Y./Ballston Spa) combined for nine strikeouts.
Up Next for Lock Haven:
After six straight home non-conference games, the Bald Eagles will return to PSAC East play on Friday, April 21 as they head north for a short trip to Mansfield. The two teams will open the three-game PSAC East series Friday at 2 p.m. with a nine-inning game. They will meet again on Saturday, April 22, this time in Lock Haven for a doubleheader.
