LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Behind solid pitching and an offensive surge, the Lock Haven University softball team (16-12, 6-6 PSAC East) swept Shepherd University (19-11, 4-8 PSAC East) today at home in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division action.
 
The Bald Eagles won game one, 5-3, and took game two, 9-1 in five innings. Yesterday (Sun., April 2), Lock Haven won game two vs. Millersville in walk-off fashion, and The Haven carried that winning momentum in today's action.
 
In game one today, Lock Haven scored five runs on nine hits. LHU took the lead in the bottom of the fourth and the Bald Eagles added two runs in the sixth.
 
Delaney Good (Mifflinburg, Pa./Mifflinburg) was 3-for-4 with two RBIs. Kerri McCallum (Havertown, Pa./Haverford) was 2-for-3 with a run scored.
 
Pitcher Keiva Middleton (Willow Street, Pa./Lampeter-Strasburg) moved to 2-0 with a hard-earned victory. She struck out three and walked three, and she helped her own cause with a leadoff-triple at the plate in the bottom of the sixth.
 
Lock Haven's nine game-two runs came off six hits. Bella Schmitt (Dillsburg, Pa./Northern York) was 2-for-2 with two runs scored and an RBI. She hit a solo home run in the fourth. Summer Peters (Lancaster, Pa./Lampeter-Strasburg) hit a three-run homer in the fourth and Maci Brodzina (Warriors Mark, Pa./Tyrone Area) was 2-for-2 with two runs and an RBI. Sydney Arrigale (Blackwood, N.J./Highland Regional) drove in three runs for the Bald Eagles' offensive surge.
 
Over five innings, Madison Waltman (Turbotville, Pa./Warrior Run) scattered four hits, allowed one run, struck out one and walked two on the way to the win the pitcher's circle.

For the Bald Eagles, the busy stretch continues tomorrow (Tuesday, April 4) with a PSAC East doubleheader scheduled on the road at local-rival Bloomsburg (2/4 p.m.).
