Volleyball edged on the road at Shepherd

The Bald Eagles fell in a tight match at Shepherd to conclude their weekend on the road in conference action.

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.V. – The Lock Haven volleyball team (6-5, 1-2 PSAC East) fell to Shepherd University (3-2, 2-1 PSAC East), 3-2 (20-25, 25-20, 25-22, 20,25, 11-15) in a road Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division match on Saturday afternoon (Sept. 30).
 
The Bald Eagles dug an early hole after dropping the first set 25-20 to the Rams.
 
However, The Bald Eagles rallied in the ensuing two sets to win 25-20 and 25-22, respectively.
 
However, the Rams answered to steal the final two sets, 25-20 and 15-11 to win the match.
 
The Bald Eagles put up an excellent fight, as they finished with a match-high 55 kills, 10 aces, 51 assists, and 76 digs.
 
Shepherd's defense, however, finished with 16 blocks to help stop Lock Haven's offense from rallying from behind.
 
Emma Kelly (Cypress, Texas/Cypress Ranch) finished with 16 kills on the day, pushing her over 100 kills this season.
 
Kelly Gaston (Centennial, Colo./Grandview) continues to impress this season, finishing with an impressive 40 assists and 11 digs.
 
Natalie Acevedo (Camuy, Puerto Rico/Paula Freire Social Justice Charter School) finished with 27 digs and Madison Eckley (Julian, Pa./Bald Eagle) added 20 digs.
 
Evie Jane Rembold (Lock Haven, Pa./Central Mountain) and Alyssa Daley (Everett, Pa./Everett) secured 11 kills each for the Bald Eagles.
 
UP NEXT:
The Bald Eagles welcome Millersville University on Friday, Oct. 6 for their home opener at 6 p.m. The contest is a White Out and will serve as SAAC's Golden Game.
