No. 16 Women’s Basketball looks to continue historic run

The Bald Eagles will seek their unprecedented 16th and 17th straight victory when they take on Mansfield and Shippensburg this week.

LOCK HAVEN, Pa.– The No. 16 Lock Haven women's basketball team will look to remain unbeaten in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) as they enter week nine with its first showdown of the week on Wednesday at home.
 
The Bald Eagles host Mansfield inside Thomas Fieldhouse on Wednesday, Jan, 24 at 5:30 p.m., before traveling to Shippensburg on Saturday (Jan. 27) for a 1 p.m. showdown.
 
On Tuesday afternoon, the Bald Eagles officially jumped onto the national scene by earning the No. 16 ranking in the NCAA DII College Sports Communicators (CSC) Poll.
 
It marks the first national ranking for the program since 1991 when The Haven reached No. 20 in the national polls.

On Monday morning, Jan. 22, the Bald Eagles were announced as the No. 2 team in the D2CSC Atlantic Regional Poll, moving up two spots from their previous rankings.

The Bald Eagles enter Wednesday riding a 15-game winning streak, which is a program record and climbing. The Haven has not lost since the opening game of the regular season at a neutral site.
 
Lock Haven is now 15-1 overall and 10-0 in the PSAC, sitting four games ahead of the second-place team. The Bald Eagles are also 7-0 at home and on the road.
On Saturday afternoon in the Bald Eagles victory over Shepherd, sophomore forward Alana Robinson broke the program-record for career blocks with her 97th in just two seasons.
 
Robinson broke the previous school record of 96 by Shameka Lee (2003-07).
 
Following the record-breaking performance, Robinson earned her sixth straight PSAC East Defensive Athlete of the Week.

The red-hot Bald Eagles won their school-record 15th straight game after topping Shepherd, 58-54 on Saturday.
 
In the game's final seconds, standout Alana Robinson put an exclamation point on the victory with a milestone-moment. With just one second left in the game, she recorded a block, her 44th of the season and the 97th of her career, which broke the all all-time career blocks record for Lock Haven women's basketball.
 
The previous school record was 96 and held by Shameka Lee (2003-07).
 
Today marked just the 44th game Robinson's career as the sophomore continues to shine game after game.
 
Robinson finished with 12 points to go along with seven rebounds.
 
Jenadia Jordan had another monster day and her 14-point, 11-rebound double-double helped lead Lock Haven to the win. The 11 rebounds marked a career-high, and she added three assists, three steals and three blocks.
