Women’s Soccer drops close decision to Shippensburg

The Bald Eagles welcomed Shippensburg to Hubert Jack Stadium for a PSAC East match on Wednesday afternoon.

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven women's soccer team lost a 1-0 defensive battle to Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division foe Shippensburg on Wednesday afternoon (Oct. 23) at Hubert Jack Stadium.

The opening 45 minutes featured an even battle as both teams fired off three shots on goal and Lock Haven held a 3-2 corner kick advantage.

However, Shippensburg scored the lone goal of the contest in the 18th minute of the first half.

Lock Haven shut out the Raiders from that point, but did not find the back of the net and Ship held on for the conference victory.

The Haven offense executed to fire off five shots in the second half, but the Shippensburg keeper held strong and made multiple point-blank saves.

The Bald Eagles' defense played strong and fought off a game-high 13 shots by the Raiders. Lock Haven goalkeeper Megan Miller finished with five saves in the 90 minutes.

On the attacking end, six different players notched a shot on goal for Lock Haven, who finished with six of its eight total shots on goal.

With the result, the Bald Eagles move to 2-7-3 overall and 2-7-1 in the PSAC East. Shippensburg improved to 3-7-2 overall and 3-5-2 in the conference.
