Two women’s wrestlers nationally ranked; Women’s Wrestling set to compete at the Warrior Duals

The nationally-ranked Lock Haven women’s wrestling team is set to compete at the Warrior Duals on Saturday, Nov. 23. Grace Stem and Alyssa Favara nationally ranked.

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - The Lock Haven women's wrestling team will travel to East Stroudsburg for the Warrior Duals on Saturday, Nov. 23.

Lock Haven Warrior Duals Schedule:
Round 1: vs No. 15 ESU, 10 a.m.
Round 2: Bye
Round 3: vs Southern Virginia, 12:45 p.m.
Round 4: vs No. 25 Utica, 2 p.m.
Round 5: vs Liberty, 3:15 p.m.
Round 6: vs Marymount, 4:30 p.m.
Round 7: vs Western New England, 5:45 p.m.

Last Time Out:
The Bald Eagles are coming off a tenth-place finish at the Adrian Invitational.

Freshman Alyssa Favara led the way, claiming top honors at 207 pounds with a 5-0 record. Favara finished with three pins and one tech fall.

Additionally, Favara claimed gold at the Princeton Open on Nov. 3. 

Azariah Moore finished sixth (3-3) at the Adrian Invitational and claimed top honors at the Princeton Open.

Lily Sherer is 8-3 on the year with four pins and three tech falls. Sherer placed second at the Princeton Open and finished seventh at the Adrian Invitational.

Presley McCandlish (160) made her debut with Lock Haven at the Adrian Invitational and finished 3-2 with a pin and a tech fall.

National Rankings:
In the latest National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) poll, Lock Haven moved to No. 9 in the team rankings after being ranked No. 17 in the preseason poll. The Bald Eagles are coming off an impressive showing at the Princeton Open finishing with 11 place-winners and a tenth-place finish at the Adrian Invitational.  

In addition, two bald Eagles are nationally ranked. Grace Stem is ranked No. 3 at 138. Freshman Alyssa Favara is ranked No. 6 at 207. 

Favara is a perfect 9-0 on the season claiming titles at the Princeton Open and Adrian Invitational. Favara has four pins and four tech falls.
