Men’s Wrestlers nationally ranked; Haven set to clash with elite competition

Bald Eagles hold strong in individual national rankings this week; Lock Haven set to take on No. 5 Ohio State, No. 13 Iowa State and No. 25 North Carolina in dual action Saturday

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Five members of the Lock Haven men's wrestling team are nationally ranked this week by InterMat as the Bald Eagles prepare to take on some of the nation's best in dual action on Saturday, Dec. 21 at the Journeymen Collegiate Wrestling Duals event in Nashville, Tennessee.
 
The Haven will take on No. 5 Ohio State, No. 13 Iowa State and No. 25 North Carolina on Saturday in Nashville. Event details, including live coverage links, and the full schedule can be found at GoLHU.com.
 
Anthony Noto, Wyatt Henson, Lucas Kapusta, Avery Bassett and Colin Fegley were all ranked individually - this week (Dec. 17) by InterMat.
 
Leading the way is Noto, who is ranked No. 13 at 133 pounds. The two-time Division I All-American is 9-2 on the season and sits on 96 career wins.
 
Henson, a returning national qualifier, is ranked No. 21 at 141 pounds. He's 8-2 on the season.
 
Kapusta is listed at No. 31 at 149 pounds this week. Last week, the redshirt-freshman, was named the Mid-American Conference (MAC) Eastern Division Wrestler of the Week. Kapusta is 10-3 on the season.
 
Bassett is ranked No. 29 at 174 pounds. He's 8-2 on the season. Fegley is 10-3 on the year and ranked No. 30 at 184 pounds.
 
Saturday's slate will start with a 2 p.m. (3 p.m. EST) dual vs. No. 13 Iowa State, before a 4 p.m. (5 p.m. EST) match vs. No. 5 Ohio State. The busy day will close at 6 p.m. (7 p.m. EST) vs. No. 25 North Carolina.
 
Iowa State is 2-2 on the season and the projected lineup for Saturday features seven nationally-ranked wrestlers. Ohio State a perfect 4-0 and the projected lineup features nine nationally-ranked wrestlers including five in the top-10. Entering the weekend, North Carolina is 3-2 in duals and the Tar Heels' lineup for Saturday is projected to include six wrestlers ranked nationally this week by InterMat.
 
Lock Haven is 2-1 on the season in duals and the Bald Eagles are coming off a big bounce-back win on Sunday, Dec. 8 as they soared by Wisconsin. Lock Haven won six of 10 bouts which included three tech falls and two major decisions in the victory over the Badgers.
