Beast of the East! No. 24/18 Women’s Basketball downs Shippensburg to lock in top seed in the PSAC Eastern Division

The Bald Eagles won their 19th conference game on Saturday to secure the top seed in the PSAC East.

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The nationally-ranked Lock Haven women's basketball team soared to a 64-51 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) victory over Shippensburg on Sunday afternoon (Feb. 25) inside Thomas Fieldhouse.
 
The Bald Eagles (24-2, 19-1 PSAC) have officially clinched the No. 1 seed in the PSAC East with two games remaining in the regular season. The 19 conference victories are the most for the program since joining and the 24 overall victories are the most in over three decades.
 
As the top seed, the Bald Eagles will host the PSAC Championship Tournament final four with a victory in the second round of the conference tournament, which will be played in Lock Haven on Wednesday, March 6 inside Thomas Fieldhouse.

Last week, the Bald Eagles were named a top-10 team in the first official NCAA DII Atlantic Region rankings, moving them one step closing to dancing in March madness with a strong showing in the PSAC Tournament.
 
The Bald Eagles improved to a perfect 12-0 at home. With the loss, Shippensburg falls to 5-22 overall and 4-17 in the PSAC.
 
The Bald Eagles led from the tip and held an advantage in points scored in each quarter but the fourth.
 
Lock Haven's greatest stretch took place over the second and third period where they outscored the Raiders, 31-18. Lock Haven knocked down six three-pointers, while holding the Raiders to 0-of-10 from behind the arch for the game.
 
The Haven blocked a game-high 10 shots, led by five from the program's all-time leader in blocks Alana Robinson (Rockaway, N.J./Pope John Paul II). Robinson added 12 points and nine rebounds.
 
Jenadia Jordan (York, Pa./Linden Hall) scored a game-high 14 points, while adding seven rebounds, five assists, four steals and two blocks.
 
Taylor Leidy (Alexandria, Pa./Juniata Valley) also finished in double figures, pouring in 13 points, while knocking down a team high three shots from behind the arch.
 
Rhlyn Rouse (York, Pa./York Tech) added 12 points and seven rebounds off the bench.

The Bald Eagles will hit the road for the final time on Wednesday (Feb. 28) when they visit Bloomsburg at 5:30 p.m. for a PSAC East game.
