McClellan breaks stolen base record, Softball sweeps Shepherd

The Bald Eagles traveled to Shepherd University on Saturday afternoon and left with a PSAC Eastern division sweep.

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va.Riley McClellan (Granville Summit, Pa./Troy) broke the Lock Haven softball team's career stolen base record and the Bald Eagles picked up a pair of victories over Shepherd in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) East doubleheader on the road on Saturday afternoon (March 30).

With the sweep, Lock Haven improves to 8-16 overall and 4-8 in the PSAC East. Shepherd falls to 15-15 overall and 5-7 in conference.

With her eighth stolen base of the season and 89th in her career, McClellan broke the Bald Eagles' career stolen base record, set by Lynn Spiezio in 2005.

McClellen, who entered the afternoon with five swiped bags on the season, stole four bases during the doubleheader to secure the milestone.

Lock Haven's offense has been on a tear over the last four games add belted out 11 hits in game one after racking up 28 yesterday.

Faith Persing (Montgomery, Pa./Bloomsburg) (6-6) picked up both victories on the mound in relief.
