Softball drops twinbill at Barton College

The Bald Eagles wrapped up their North Carolina trip on Monday afternoon with a non-conference doubleheader at Barton College.

WILSON, N.C. – The Lock Haven softball team dropped a non-conference doubleheader at Barton College, 8-0 and 5-1 on a rainy Monday afternoon (March 4).
 
Lock Haven finishes the North Carolina trip with a 2-2 record and moves to 2-6 on the season. The Bull Dogs improve to 9-9.
 
Game One: Barton 8, Lock Haven 0
Barton jumped out to an early 2-0 lead, before extending its lead to 5-0 through four innings. The Bulldogs rallied for three more runs in the sixth to secure the run-rule victory.
 
Delaney Good (Mifflinburg, Pa./Mifflinburg) and Haley Lestician (Lawrenceville, N.J./Lawrence) found the hit column for the Bald Eagles. Lestician continued her hot weekend with two hits, including a double. Good added a pair of walks and a stolen base.
 
Game Two: Barton 5, Lock Haven 1
In game two, Barton opened up the scoring with a solo run in the second before tacking on three more in the third to lead 4-0.
 
Lock Haven cut into the deficit with a run in the top of the sixth, but the Bull Dogs countered with a run of their own to make 5-1, before shutting down the Bald Eagles in the seventh to seal the victory.
 
Good drove in a run and Bella Schmitt (Dillsburg, Pa./Northern York) added a double to lead The Haven offense.
 
Faith Persing (Montgomery, Pa./Bloomsburg) led the pitching staff with four quality innings, allowing just one run and striking out one hitter.

The Bald Eagles continue their spring tune-up schedule by traveling to Philadelphia, Pa. to take on Holy Family in a non-conference doubleheader on Tuesday, March 12 starting at 2 p.m.
