LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven baseball team hosted No. 24 East Stroudsburg University in its Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division home opener, 13-0, 8-2, on a sunny Friday (March 8) afternoon.
Lock Haven moves to 3-9 overall and 0-2 in the PSAC East, while ESU moves to 8-3 overall and 2-0 in Eastern Division play.
Game One: #24 ESU 13, Lock Haven 0
ESU took game one, 13-0, behind an eight-run second inning.
The Warriors were powered by their offense, which led 12-1 in hits on the afternoon.
Stephen McMillan (Warrington, Pa./Central Bucks) recorded the hit for The Haven.
Game Two: #24 ESU 8, Lock Haven 2
The Bald Eagles started the scoring in the bottom of the first inning when
Zachary McEllroy (Emmaus, Pa./Emmaus) drove in
Gavin Neal (Palmyra, Pa./Palmyra) to put The Haven on top, 1-0.
Lock Haven received four-scoreless innings from game two starter
Matt Lingenfelter (State College, Pa./State College) to cling to the 1-0 advantage.
However, the Warriors rallied for eight runs in the top of the fifth to take their first lead, 8-1.
Those were the last runs of the contest for the Warriors and Lock Haven tacked on one in the sixth, but couldn't rally further and ESU won game two, 8-2.
Francisco Taveras (Muhlenburg, Pa./Muhlenburg) doubled, drove in a run and scored to lead the offense. McEllroy finished with two hits and an RBI.
