LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven field hockey team scored the game-winning goal in the closing minutes to open Atlantic-10 (A10) Conference play with a thrilling 1-0 victory over La Salle at Charlotte Smith Field on Friday afternoon (Sept. 20).
Paula Sigley found the back of the cage with 2:09 left in the contest, after securing the rebound off a shot from
Deana Campbell. The game-winning goal was the first of the season for Sigley.
The Bald Eagles (2-5, 1-0 A-10), behind electrifying goalkeeping from
Kelsey Felix, closed out the final two minutes to improve to 1-0 in the A-10. La Salle moves to 5-2 overall and 0-1 in conference play.
Felix secured the win in cage for Lock Haven, after clinching her first shutout of the season, behind six saves. Felix made back-to-back saves on point-blank shots in the first half to keep the shutout in tact and ultimately lead the Bald Eagles to victory.
Brooke Hofsass led the overall attack for Lock Haven as she fired off five shots with two on target.
Lock Haven and La Salle both fired off six shots on goal, while La Salle held the narrow lead in corners (8-7).
