Volleyball opens season with split at Cedarville Invitational

The Bald Eagles opened the 2024 season on Friday afternoon at the Cedarville Invitational.

CEDARVILLE, Pa. – The Lock Haven volleyball team opened the 2024 season by competing in the Cedarville Invitational on the campus of Cedarville University on Friday afternoon (Sept. 6). The Bald Eagles fell to Cedarville 3-0 before downing Central State 3-0.
 
Lock Haven opens the season with a 1-1 record after the split and will wrap up the Cedarville Invitational tomorrow afternoon (Sept. 7) by taking on Saginaw Valley State at noon.
 
Cedarville Recap: (0-3) (14-25, 14-25, 14-25)
 
The Balds Eagles fell to the Cedarville Yellow Jackets 3-0 in their season opener.
 
Evie Jane Rembold led the way with seven kills.
 
Kelly Gaston added 15 assists and seven digs.
 
Natalie Acevedo and Olivia Cook chipped in nine and five digs, respectively.
 
Central State Recap: (3-0) (25-12, 25-21, 25-22)
 
The Bald Eagles responded in their second match of the afternoon and swept the Central State Marauders.
 
Emma Kelly, Rembold, and Avery Beall powered the offense with nine, eight, and seven kills, respectively.
 
Gaston stood out once again, racking up 25 assists, two aces, and seven digs.
 
The tag team of Cook and Acevedo finished with 13 and eight digs, respectively, leading the defense.
 
Madison Eckley added a team-high four aces.
