Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Men’s Basketball downs Millersville in closing seconds

The Bald Eagles won their second straight PSAC East thriller by taking down Millersville in the final seconds at home.

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – For the second straight game the Lock Haven men's basketball team found themselves in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) thriller and once again proved to be relentless as the Bald Eagles took down Millersville 73-70 in the closing seconds in front of the home crowd of Thomas Fieldhouse on Saturday afternoon (Jan. 25).

Kevin Coleman tied the game at 70-70 with 40 seconds to go and Isaiah Stewart forced a turnover at the other end to give the Bald Eagles possession with six seconds to go.

Bryson Scott was fouled on the inbound play and drilled both free throws to give the Bald Eagles a two-point lead.

On the next possession, Blake Deegan picked off the Marauders' inbound pass and went 1-of-2 at the line to set up a Millersville half-court heave at the buzzer. The last-chance effort came up short and the Bald Eagles edged out the Marauders in another PSAC basketball thriller.

With the victory, The Haven improves to 9-9 on the season and 6-6 in the PSAC. Millersville falls to 11-8 overall and 7-5 in conference play.

Coleman continues to fill the stat sheet and led three Bald Eagles in double figures with 16 points, five rebounds, five assists, three blocks and a steal.

Scott, who knocked down the eventual game-winning free throws, added 14 points.

Isaiah Stewart netted 12 points and dished out a team-high seven assists, but it was his work on the defensive end that had the most impact as the senior notched four steals.

Blake Deegan added nine points and seven rebounds.

In the first half, trailing by four with six minutes to go, Lock Haven closed the half on a 13-0 run to build a 34-25 lead heading into the break.

The Haven kept the Marauders at bay for the opening eight minutes of the second half, however, the Marauders used a 18-7 run over the ensuing eight minutes to jump out in front 60-57.

Lock Haven knotted the score at 62-62 off a layup from B. Scott to set up an exciting final three minutes.

Next up for The Haven:
The Bald Eagles head back out on the road and will visit Bloomsburg on Wednesday, Jan. 29 at 7:30 p.m. for a PSAC East clash.
