LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Lock Haven men's track and field team returned to action on Saturday (Jan. 25) by competing in the Gulden Invite hosted by Bucknell in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania.
Saturday's action took place inside Bucknell's Gerhard Fieldhouse.
PSAC/NCAA Automatic Qualifiers
Josiah Schans broke the Bald Eagles' 60-meter hurdles record with a time of 8.16. Schans' time is also an NCAA DII Championship provisional mark and PSAC Championship qualifying time. The record previously stood since 2008. Schans' time earned him second place.
Jakob Rager hit another PSAC qualifying mark for the second week in a row this time in the 5000-meter, along with
Owen Hibell hitting his first PSAC qualifying mark with times of 15:22.98 and 15:24.67 respectively.
Eric Zalar threw for a third PSAC qualifying mark in the weight throw with a throw of 16.70m (54-09.50).
Running Highlights
Securing a second-place podium finish in the 4x400-meter relay was the team of
Lorenzo Thompson,
Brennan Miller,
Matt Reinard, and
Matthew Muthler, with a time of 3:25.97.
The quartet of
Anden Atkins,
Gavin Furey,
Morgan Gavitt and
Ryan Williams ran well in the 4x800-meter relay with a time of 8:16.36.
Field Event Highlights
Chase Young put in season-best jumps in the triple jump with
a distance of 12.76m (41-10.50) and the long jump 5.89m (19-04.00).
Next up for The Haven:
The Bald Eagles will send athletes to a pair of events on Friday and Saturday, Jan. 31 and Feb. 1. Lock Haven will compete in a pair of two-day events at the Penn State National (University Park, Pa. and Bison Open/Multi (Lewisburg, Pa.).
