Volleyball downs Huskies for the second time with a 3-0 sweep

The Bald Eagles pick up another PSAC East victory with a 3-0 sweep over Bloomsburg

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven volleyball team opened a week-long homestand with an emphatic victory over Bloomsburg. The Haven won the match 3-0 (25-17, 25-21, 25-16) on Tuesday (Oct. 14). It was the second time the Bald Eagles defeated Bloomsburg on the season, improving to 3-3 in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference East (PSAC) Division play.
 
The Bald Eagles opened the match strong, outscoring Bloomsburg 25-17, with 14 kills and two blocks in the first set.
 
Not much changed in the second set, 14 kills, three blocks and four service aces led Lock Haven to a 25-21 score.
 
The Haven closed out the match with a dominant final frame. Putting the Huskies away with a 25-16 score, behind 14 kills and 3 service aces.
 
Maddie Mitchell led the Bald Eagles' attack with 12 kills in the contest. Lola Coulter also added nine kills to the Lock Haven offense, followed by eight more from Gracelynn Wolzen.
 
Madelyn Wagner finished with 19 assists and Gabby Gealey notched 14.
 
Olivia Taylor filled the stat sheet with four aces and 12 digs. Natalie Acevedo added two aces and 10 digs.
 
Payton Stanton supplied defense at the net with four blocks. Wolzen also added three.  
 
Lock Haven improves to 5-13 overall and 3-3 in PSAC East play and Bloomsburg falls to 7-11 overall and 0-6 in conference play.
  
NEXT UP
Lock Haven will continue its homestand with a busy weekend, hosting East Stroudsburg on Friday (Oct. 17) at 6 p.m. for its Homecoming Whiteout. The first 50 spectators will receive a free white out T-shirt. Kutztown will come to town on Saturday (Oct. 18) at 6 p.m.
