Zalar medals on Day 1 PSAC Indoor Track & Field Championships

The 2025 Indoor Track & Field Championship season is underway for the Lock Haven men’s track & field team

BETHLEHEM, Pa. (Saturday, March 1) – The Lock Haven men's team kicked off the 2025 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Indoor Track and Field Championships by competing on day one of two at Lehigh University's Ranch Fieldhouse in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.
 
The Bald Eagles totaled 16 points and are currently in fifth place. Shippensburg (48 points) leads the way, with Slippery Rock (40 points) and Kutztown (35 points) coming in at second and third, respectively.
 
Medal and Podium Finishes
Eric Zalar 3rd (Weight Throw), Morgan Gavitt, Aydan Summers, Ryan Williams and Gavin Furey 5th (DMR), Nick Bellomo 5th (pole vault)
 
Heptathlon Highlights
Matthew Muthler and Nick Bellomo both competed on day one of the two-day heptathlon.
 
Muthler finished day one in second with 2911 points where he topped the field in both the high jump and shot put with leap of 1.96-meters (6-05) and throw of 12.28m (40-03.50).
 
Bellomo finished day one in fifth with 2674 points where he notably finished fourth in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 7.13 and finished fifth in the high jump with a height of 1.78m (5-10.00).
 
Running Highlights
Ryan Miller qualified for the finals tomorrow in the 400-meter with a first-place finish and NCAA Division II provisional time of 49.18 in prelims.
 
Miller has also qualified for the finals in the 200-meter with a sixth-place finish (22.24).
 
In the 60-meter hurdles, both Josiah Schans and Austin Kravetz qualified for the finals tomorrow by finishing sixth and seventh with times of 8.32 and 8.36 in prelims, respectively.
 
The team of Morgan Gavitt, Aydan Summers, Ryan Williams and Gavin Furey finished fifth in the distance medley with a time of 10:23.52, scoring four team points.
 
Jakob Rager gathered two team points in the 5000-meter race finishing seventh with a time of 15:36.87.
 
Field Highlights
Eric Zalar secured a third-place podium finish and PSAC All-Conference honors in the weight throw with a throw distance of 17.93-meters (58-10.00), scoring six team points.
 
Nick Bellomo finished fifth in pole vault with a height of 4.50-meters (14-09.00), scoring four team points.
 
Next up for The Haven:
The Bald Eagles return to the Ranch Fieldhouse for Championship Sunday tomorrow (March 2) and action will begin at 11:30 a.m.
