INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. --
Matthew Muthler represented the Lock Haven men's indoor track and field team by competing in the heptathlon on day one of the NCAA Division II Indoor Track and Field Championships in Indianapolis, Indiana on Thursday afternoon.
Muthler, who entered the weekend ranked No. 7 in the nation in the heptathlon, competed in four of the seven total events today. Muthler's results in the 60-meter dash, long jump, shot put and high jump earned the senior 2754 points.
In the 60-meter, Muthler raced in the second heat where he finished with a time of 7.36 (759 points).
In the second event of the day, the long jump, Muthler gained two spots with 709 points, where he jumped for a distance of 6.55-meters (21-06.00).
Muthler threw for a distance of 11.58-meters (38-00.00) to earn an additional 581 points.
The final event of the afternoon was the high jump where Muthler secured 705 points with a jump of of 1.89-meters (6-02.25).
Muthler is currently in 12
th place and remains in contention for an All-American honor with three remaining events in the heptathlon.
