SALEM, W. Va. (Sunday, March 9) -- The Lock Haven baseball team capped its four-game non-conference series today at Salem University. The Haven dropped the doubleheader, 7-0 & 5-1.
Lock Haven is now 10-5 on the young season.
After the hot start to the season, the Bald Eagles were ranked 10
th in this week's National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Division II Atlantic Region rankings.
Game 1 Recap: Salem 7 – Lock Haven 0
Salem scored three runs in the first to jump out to an early lead and never looked back.
Brady Myers got the start, tossing 3.2 innings, allowing three earned runs on five hits and he struck out four.
Zach Griffin and
Mason Curtier came in for relief combining for 2.1 scoreless innings and each allowed a hit.
Nathan Wise (3B),
Stephen McMillan, and
Jake Ambrosio collected hits along the way.
Game 2 Recap: Salem 5 – Lock Haven 1
In the nightcap, Salem mirrored its first-inning efforts with three runs in the first inning and never trailed from there.
Despite the loss, The Haven offense was able to belt out 10 base hits.
Zachary McEllroy drove in the lone run in the sixth with a double.
Wise, McEllroy,
Morgen Billotte and
Bryce Vincent each had multiple hits for the Bald Eagles.
Kevin Grenninger started the game on the rubber for The Haven, tossing 2.1 innings and allowed five runs on 10 hits.
Jason Labrador and
Ethan Nagy combined for 3.1 shutout innings, striking out one and allowing no hits.
