Women’s Basketball extends win streak to five with 76-47 victory at ESU

The Bald Eagles improved to 5-0 in the PSAC East by downing ESU on the road

EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. - A dominant second quarter and a balanced offensive effort powered the Lock Haven women's basketball team to a decisive 76-47 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) East victory at East Stroudsburg on Wednesday night.
 
The Haven won its fifth straight game in a row to improve to 11-5 on the season and 7-3 in the conference. The Bald Eagles five-game win streak dates back to Jan. 3, while The Haven has now won eight of its last nine games.
 
ESU, who entered the game tied in the win column with Lock Haven for first place in the East, falls to 11-7 overall and 6-5 in the PSAC.
 
After trailing 16-15 after the opening quarter, Lock Haven seized control in the second with a 19-7 frame, using a 16-2 run to build a 34-23 halftime cushion. The Bald Eagles' defense limited ESU to 23 percent shooting in the period.

Lock Haven's best work came after the break, when the Bald Eagles shot 64 percent in the third quarter and pushed the lead to as many as 23.
 
Lock Haven finished with a 36-28 edge on the glass and a 26-24 advantage in points in the paint, while dominating second-chance points 19-14 and fast-break points 16-10.
 
The Bald Eagles went 25-of-29 at the free-throw line and also received 15 points from their bench in the wire-to-wire performance.

Alana Robinson led four Bald Eagles in double figures with a game-high 16 points, adding four rebounds, six assists and three steals.
 
After securing a triple-double last time out, Jenadia Jordan stuffed the stat sheet again with 13 points, six rebounds, five assists and four steals, while Rhlyn Rouse posted a 12-point, seven-rebound effort.
 
Madeline Evans anchored the interior with 10 points - all at the line on a perfect 10-of-10 performance - and a game-best nine rebounds.

Sydney Lear joined the double-digit club with 10 points, including a pair of 3-pointers, and three assists, helping Lock Haven's starting unit control the tempo at both ends.

Next up for The Haven:
The Bald Eagles return home to host West Chester on Saturday, Jan. 24 at 1 p.m. for a PSAC East contest in Thomas Fieldhouse.
