The Bald Eagles opened their PSAC East schedule with a 58-49 victory at Shepherd

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.V. – The Lock Haven women's basketball team led from start to finish to open its Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division schedule with a 58-49 victory on the road at Shepherd on Wednesday night, Jan. 7.

The Bald Eagles used a dominant night on the glass and a big first half to improve to 6-5 overall and 3-3 in the PSAC. Shepherd falls to 2-9 on the season and 0-6 in conference play.

Leading the efforts on the glass was Madeline Evans, who turned in a massive double-double with 16 points and a game-best 19 rebounds, going 10-for-16 at the free-throw line while also collecting a steal and assist.

Jenadia Jordan paced Lock Haven with a game-high 20 points on 8-of-11 shooting, adding seven rebounds, five steals and two assists in 37 impactful minutes.

Alana Robinson also finished in double figures with 10 points, six rebounds, three assists, two blocks and a steal.

The Bald Eagles never trailed, racing out to a 16-8 lead after the first quarter and doubling up Shepherd 32-16 by halftime.

Shepherd surged after the break and outscored Lock Haven 32-26 over the final 20 minutes, but the early cushion and second-chance points allowed Lock Haven to close out the nine-point victory.

Lock Haven dominated the glass with a 47-31 rebounding edge, including an 18-8 advantage on the offensive boards that fueled eight second-chance points.

The Haven defense forced 24 Shepherd turnovers and converted them into 16 points, helping offset a cold 2-for-14 performance from three-point range.
