LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Freshman Luke Kennevan drilled a 30-footer at the buzzer to send the game into a second overtime and the Lock Haven men's basketball team outscored visiting Kutztown 13-5 in double OT to secure a 91-83 (2OT) victory at home on Saturday afternoon.
The Bald Eagles move to 9-14 and 5-11 in PSAC East play after the dramatic victory. Kutztown falls to 5-16 and 2-14 in PSAC East play.
The Bald Eagles led for the majority of the first half, but the Golden Bears outscored Lock Haven 23-13 in the final 10 minutes to claim a 39-38 lead heading into the break.
Senior Dyllon Scott scored 13 of his career-high 33 points in the first half to lead the way for Lock Haven.
The Haven opened the second half with Keith Warren going on his own 8-0 run to reclaim a seven-point lead.
Kutztown clawed back again, reclaiming a 67-64 lead with four minutes left.
Scott drove the lane to knot the score at 68-68 with one minute remaining in regulation.
With score remaining tied, Lock Haven was unable to get a shot up on the last possession in regulation, sending it to overtime.
In the first overtime, The Haven trailed 78-75 with four seconds left, leaving it to the freshman Kennevan, who drilled a 30-footer to tie it at the buzzer to send it to a second overtime period.
Warren and Scott combined for 12 points in the second overtime to secure The Haven victory, 91-83.
Scott finished with 33, a career high for the senior, shooting 11-of-15 from the field and 9-of-11 from the charity strike. Scott also secured a team-high nine rebounds and dished out five assists.
Warren scored 19 points, dished out four assists and grabbed two steals.
Dean Coleman-Newsome, who logged 48 minutes, did not score, but was the team leader in assists with seven. Coleman-Newsome also snagged six rebounds and recorded a steal and a block each.
Kennevan had 13 points, including the buzzer-beater three to tie the game to end regulation, along with six rebounds.
The other double-digit scorer for The Haven was Blake Deegan, who scored 16 points, grabbed eight boards and rejected three shots.
Lock Haven won the rebound advantage 38-35, and scored 44 points in the paint compared to Kutztown's 32.
