LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Blaire Balestrini hit a grand slam and
Talia Ross struck out 11 hitters to lead the Lock Haven softball team to an 8-4 victory over Jefferson in game one of the Bald Eagles 2026 home opener. Jefferson won game two, 13-2.
With the split, Lock Haven moves to 8-6 heading into its Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) schedule. Jefferson is now 6-4.
Game 1: Lock Haven 8, Jefferson 4
In game one, Lock Haven built a 5-0 lead through the opening four innings, thanks to an RBI single by
Olivia LaMeau and a grand slam from Balestrini, her third home run of the season.
Jefferson pushed across four runs over the final three innings, but The Haven used a three-run sixth inning to put the game out reach.
Maci Brodzina headlined the rally with a two-RBI single.
Maci Brodzina, Balestrini and LaMeau (3-for-4) all finished with multiple hits.
Ross (6-1) picked up her sixth victory in the circle on the season by tossing her fourth complete game, while striking out a game-high 11 batters.
Game 2: Jefferson 13, Lock Haven 2
In the nightcap, Jefferson put up crocked numbers in three different innings, led by five runs in the seventh to run away with a 13-2 victory.
Gianna Goodman finished with a double and a triple, while LaMeau belted her second home run of the season.
