Women’s Lacrosse falls at Frostburg State

The Lock Haven women’s lacrosse team dropped a road non-conference game at Frostburg State on Wednesday afternoon.

FROSTBURG, Md. – The Lock Haven women's lacrosse team (3-2) traveled to Frostburg, Md. for a road non-conference contest vs. Frostburg State (5-2) on Wednesday (March 18) afternoon.

Frostburg State came out victorious by a final score of 15-7.

The Bobcats set the tone early by outscoring the Bald Eagles 9-3 through the first 30 minutes. Frostburg State tacked on four more goals in the third to Lock Haven's two before an even 2-2 fourth gave The Haven its first road loss of the season.

Makayla Kelly was the game's leading goal scorer with four, including the 100th of her career. Kelly also earned a milestone of 100 career draw controls as she tied Brynlee Pinschenat with a game-high five.

Gabby Gunnip added two goals and an assist. Hadley Munn rounded out the Bald Eagles' goal scorers with one in the first quarter.

Kelly, Ally Weaver, Sarah Osmun and Paige McKim all caused multiple Bobcats turnovers.

Gretchen King played all 60 minutes in goal. King totaled 12 saves and three ground balls.

Frostburg State outshot Lock Haven 40-23 but the Bald Eagles won the draw controls 14-10.

Lock Haven will open up Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West Division play on Saturday (March 21) at home when Edinboro comes to town at 12 p.m. at Charlotte E. Smith Field.
