BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lock Haven men's outdoor track and field team had a strong showing at the Coach Pollard Invitational on Friday (April 17) and Saturday (April 18) by taking first place in four separate events.
Eric Zalar took home gold in the Hammer Throw with a season-best performance. Zalar reached an NCAA DII Provisional and Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championship qualifying mark of 194-11.75 (59.43m). He currently sits in 24th place in the NCAA Division II rankings.
Zalar's success did not stop there as he took fourth in the Discus Throw by reaching 150-6.5 (45.89m). He also took fifth place in the Shot Put by reaching 48-6.25 (14.79m). He earned PSAC qualifiers in both events.
Jakob Rager finished first in the 800m and improved on his personal best with a 1:51.40. The time ranks him second in Lock Haven program history.
Gavin Furey and Morgan Gavitt also impressed in the 800m. Furey took second with a 1:54.83 and Gavitt finished fifth (1:56.22). All three individuals earned a spot in the PSAC Championships in the event.
Michael Lawrence won the Triple Jump by reaching a PSAC qualifier of 47-9.5 (14.57m). His impressive leaps moved him to second place in Lock Haven event history.
Brayden Frair won the 3000m Steeplechase. The freshman finished in 9:31.36 and earned a PSAC qualifier.
Matt Reinard took second in the 110m Hurdles with a finals time of 15.32 (PSAC qualifier). Jorge Santana took fifth in the event with a 15.72.
Kristian Mizdail took fourth in the 1500m by finishing with a PSAC qualifying time of 3:58.27.
Sam Wible earned a conference championship qualifying time of 49.12 in the 400m.
Ben Warbuton took fourth in the Long Jump and earned a PSAC qualifier by reaching 23-0.75 (7.03m).
Rager, Lorenzo Thompson, Wible and Anden Aitkins took fourth in the 4x400 by finishing in 3:21.39.

The Lock Haven men's track and field team will send athletes to compete in the Penn Relays (University of Pennsylvania) and the Paul Kiser Invitational (Shippensburg) on Friday (April 24) and Saturday (April 25) for its final meets before the PSAC Championships.
