LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven football team scored 13 unanswered points in the fourth quarter, but No. 3 Kutztown's early advantage held true as the Bald Eagles fell to the nationally-ranked Golden Bears, 35-20 on Saturday.
Saturday marked the 2026 home opener for The Haven at Hubert Jack Stadium.
Lock Haven (1-2) trailed 35-7 entering the fourth quarter, but won the fourth-quarter battle 13-0 behind a pair of touchdown connections from quarterback
Rob Footman Jr. and
Connor Foltz.
Footman Jr., who also accounted for a touchdown on the ground, found Foltz in the back of the end zone for 11- and 12-yard hookups to account for all three of Lock Haven's touchdowns.
Footman Jr. completed 33 of 38 passes for 288 yards and two touchdowns in his most complete game in the crimson and white.
Mekhi Watson led Lock Haven's receiving corps with 10 catches for 96 yards, while
Jake Roberts added eight receptions for 64 yards. Foltz finished with three catches for 31 yards and both of Lock Haven's receiving touchdowns.
Kutztown (3-0) jumped out to a 14-0 lead in the first quarter, before Lock Haven answered with a lengthy scoring drive in the second quarter, covering 56 yards in seven plays before Footman Jr. punched it in from a yard out to make it 14-7.
The Golden Bears answered just before halftime to push their lead to 21-7.
Kutztown added two more touchdowns in the third quarter to extend its advantage to 35-7.
Lock Haven controlled the clock for much of the game, holding a 35:47-24:13 advantage in time of possession and finishing with 22 first downs to Kutztown's 17. The Bald Eagles also totaled 327 yards of offense, including 288 through the air.
On defense,
Q McMillan and
Rasu Wearing-Poindexter each recorded an interception, while Wearing-Poindexter also forced a fumble.
Raheem Reid recovered a fumble and notched a solo sack.
Jaeion Perry led the Bald Eagles with six tackles, while Wearing-Poindexter added five tackles and McMillan added four.
