LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - The Lock Haven men's soccer team was edged, 2-1, by visiting Shepherd in a physical non-conference match Wednesday afternoon at Hubert Jack Stadium.
 
Shepherd opened the scoring with an unassisted goal in the 32nd minute to take a 1-0 lead into halftime.
 
The Bald Eagles evened the score at 1-1 early in the second half when Billy Lawrence finished a rebound off a shot by Nicholas McGhin. The goal was the first of the season for Lawrence. 
 
However, the Rams answered in the 52nd minute, regaining the lead at 2-1.
 
Lock Haven controlled possession late and outshot Shepherd, 8-2, over the final stretch of the match, but the Rams held off each Bald Eagle scoring opportunity to secure the victory.
 
For the match, The Haven held sizable advantages in shots, 15-6, and corner kicks, 10-2, while also committing fewer fouls. Shepherd's defense, however, did enough to preserve the one-goal win.
 
Seven different Bald Eagles recorded a shot on goal, led by a match-high three from Lawrence.
 
Goalkeeper Ethan Beck made three saves in 90 minutes of action.
 
Despite the result, Lock Haven showed improvement from last season's 3-0 loss at Shepherd.
 
Next Up
The Bald Eagles return to the road on Wednesday, Sept. 9, when they visit Felician in nonconference action. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m.
