LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - The Lock Haven field hockey team dropped a 6-0 non-conference contest to American University on Sunday afternoon at Charlotte Smith Field.
 
American (5-3) scored once in the first and twice in the second to carry a 3-0 lead into the break.
 
The Eagles extended their advantage to 6-0 with three third-quarter goals, ultimately putting the game out of reach.
 
Lock Haven (3-3) held American scoreless throughout the fourth quarter and generated its best opportunity late in the match. Max Russell put the Bald Eagles' lone shot on goal in the 54th minute, but American goalkeeper made the save to preserve the shutout.
 
Russell and Keira Horensky recorded Lock Haven's two shots, while Russell accounted for the team's shot on target. Goalkeeper Quinty van Luijk made eight saves in all 60 minutes for the Bald Eagles.
 
American finished with advantages in shots (23-2) and penalty corners (11-1). Lock Haven's Paula Sigley also recorded a defensive save in the third quarter.
