CALIFORNIA, Pa. - The Lock Haven women's soccer team earned a hard-fought 2-0 victory over California (Pa.) on Sunday afternoon, scoring both of its goals in the second half to secure the shutout victory.
 
The victory is the second straight for The Haven, who improves to 2-2 on the year after back-to-back shutouts.
 
After a scoreless opening 45 minutes, the Bald Eagles broke through early in the second half. Brooke Gehret found the back of the net in the 51st minute, converting a feed from Lily O'Brien to give Lock Haven a 1-0 advantage.
 
Just over seven minutes later, Lock Haven doubled its lead. Colleen Lloyd scored her first goal of the season in the 58th minute, with Maci Shaffer providing the assist to put the Bald Eagles ahead 2-0.
 
Lock Haven's defense did the rest, limiting California (Pa.) to just three shots in the second half and four shots on goal for the match. Devon Mason recorded four saves across 90 minutes to earn the clean sheet.
 
The Bald Eagles controlled much of the offensive action, finishing with a 14-9 advantage in shots and a 7-6 edge in corner kicks. Lock Haven also held California without a goal despite the Vulcans putting four shots on target.
 
Gehret and Lloyd each finished with a goal, while O'Brien and Shaffer each recorded an assist. Bryn Constanzer led the Bald Eagles with four shots, while Gehret, O'Brien and Lloyd each added two.
 
The victory moves Lock Haven to 2-2-0 overall and 1-1-0 in conference play, while California (Pa.) falls to 1-2-0 overall and 1-2-0 in conference action.
 
The Bald Eagles return to action looking to build on the momentum of Sunday's shutout victory.
