LOCK HAVEN, Pa. –
The Lock Haven University men's soccer team (11-7-1) dominated tonight's Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Semifinal match with Bloomsburg University (7-8-2) for much of the 110 minutes of play, but when it was all said and done, the Huskies advanced to Saturday's PSAC Final 7-6 on penalty kicks.

After two overtime periods and 110 minutes of play, the two teams were still knotted at 1-1.

Bloomsburg advances to the title match after a dramatic 7-6 win in a nine-round shootout. The Huskies will play Millersville, who shutout No. 8 California (Pa.) 4-0 in tonight's other PSAC Semifinal match.

The Bald Eagles took control of tonight's match and held the pace throughout, but despite outshooting Bloom 18-6, The Haven only mustered up one goal.

Lock Haven's lone goal came off the foot of senior Greg Shertzer (Lebanon, Pa./Cedar Crest), who converted a penalty kick in the 63rd minute after he was dragged down in the box.

Shertzer's goal made it 1-1 and gave LHU new life.

Bloomsburg held the lead up until Shertzer's second-half tally thanks to a 24th minute goal.

Nick Izzo struck a long-range free kick that took an awkward bounce in the box , but the bending shot found the side netting for the Huskie goal.

Lock Haven continued to press late, but could not get another ball past BU goalie Bernie Roell, who made seven saves.

Gregory Bretz (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Mechanicsburg) was a workhorse for The Haven tonight as he was all over the field for the Bald Eagles.

LHU also got a tremendous effort from defender to David Qaisi (Lancaster, Pa./Conestoga Valley).

The Bald Eagles pressure created several good chances in the two overtime periods, but the match was destine for the shootout.

Lock Haven will now wait to see if they receive a bid to the NCAA Tournament.
