LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University wrestling team is set for a busy weekend as the Bald Eagles host Michigan State (Big Ten) on Saturday (December 3) before heading to the Penn State Nittany Lion Open on Sunday.
Setting the stage:
Lock Haven and Michigan State are set to meet for just the third time on Saturday (Dec. 3) at noon in Thomas Fieldhouse. The Bald Eagles enter the match 3-1 in duals, while Michigan State is 0-1 on the year.
Michigan State leads the young series with LHU 2-0. The Spartans beat Lock Haven 28-12 last year in East Lansing, Mich. and topped The Haven 25-10 in 2002.
A number of Bald Eagles will be right back in action on Sunday (Dec. 4) at the Nittany Lion Open, hosted by No. 5 Penn State. A large portion of Lock Haven's roster will be in action, competing both attached and unattached.
Teams set to compete at Penn State include No. 5 Penn State, No. 8 Pittsburgh, No. 10 Lehigh, No. 13 Maryland, No. 14 Virginia Tech, No. 16 Rutgers, No. 19 Central Michigan, No. 20 Kent State, No. 23 Virginia and No. 25 Binghamton.

Lock Haven's last time out:
Matt Bonson led the way for the Bald Eagles at last weekend's sixth annual Mat Town U.S.A. Open. Bonson repeated as the 141-pound champion after going 4-0 on the day.
Fred Garcia was also a champion for The Haven after he went 3-0 at 184.
Owen Wilkinson was second overall at 149 after going 3-1 on the day.

Lock Haven opened the 2011-12 season with a 3-1 day at the Wrestle for a Cure Duals in Harrisburg, Pa. on October 12.
The Bald Eagles went 3-1 on the day with wins over The Citadel (W, 33-8), the University at Buffalo (W, 17-16) and American International College (W, 26-12). LHU opened the day with a hard-fought 24-13 loss to Boston University.
