LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The No. 2 Lock Haven University lacrosse team (10-0, 6-0 PSAC) jumped out to a 9-0 halftime lead and the Lady Eagles rolled past visiting Edinboro University (3-6, 0-6 PSAC) 17-3 today in PSAC action.
Julie Moran (Unionville, Pa./Unionville) and Lindsay Walbrant (Souderton, Pa./Souderton) both netted hat tricks today to lift LHU past the Fighting Scots.
Lock Haven got goals from 11 different players, including
Allison Berger (Oreland, Pa./Springfield) ,who had a six-point game for the second consecutive outing.
She scored one goal and recorded five assists today, following up a six-point game yesterday that helped LHU cruise past No. 9 Rollins in a battle of the nation's two best teams.
Lock Haven, who outshot the visitors today 42-6 got another sensational defensive effort as well.
Leading the way was Defensive Player of the Year candidate
Katie Zichelli (South Orange, N.J./Columbia). She caused five turnovers and recorded seven ground balls.
Clare Gaeng (Frederick, Md./Thomas Governor Johnson) had a tremendous effort this afternoon. The junior defender had four caused turnovers and four groundballs to go along with one goal.
Goalies
Heather Sacko (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) and
Nicole Necci (Jackson, N.J./Jackson Memorial) each played a half today. Sacko made three stops in the first as she recorded her ninth win of the year.
With Lock Haven up 14-0, Edinboro finally found the back of the net on a Shannon Rohrich goal with 11:05 left in the game.
Edinboro goalie Teresa Fiori did everything she could today, turning in a sensational 18-save effort.
With the win the Lady Eagles remain a perfect 10-0 on the year. Yesterday marked their second win over a top-10 team as they downed Rollins 12-7 in thrilling fashion.
Today's win also moves LHU to 6-0 in conference action.
Lock Haven returns to action on Wednesday, April 6 at No. 10 Gannon. The Lady Eagles return home on Saturday, April 9 to host No. 8 Mercyhurst.
