LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University women's soccer team dropped its 2011 season-opener today at home to Chestnut Hill College 3-1.

Despite controlling the pace of the match in the opening minutes, the Lady Eagles found themselves down 1-0 in the 19th minute after the Griffins capitalized on a breakaway.

CHC led 1-0 at halftime and made it 2-0 in the 51st minute.

LHU would not go away and freshman defender Danielle Mauro (Toms River, N.J./Toms River North) ripped home a loose ball inside the box in the 58th minute to make it 2-1.

Chestnut Hill added an insurance goal in the 68th minute after Carly DiGivovanni converted on a penalty kick.

Hayley Zinn (Wyomissing, Pa./Wyomissing) logged all 90 minutes in net for LHU and made three saves.

With the loss, LHU begins the season 0-1, while Chestnut Hill moves to 1-2.

The Lady Eagles return to action on Wednesday, September 7 at 4:30 p.m. when they travel to West Chester University.
