9/7/2011 5:44:00 PM

Box Score

WEST CHESTER, Pa. –
The Lock Haven University men's soccer team held on to take down host West Chester University 2-1 today in a rain soaked affair that was called with three minutes remaining because of inclement weather and lightning in the area.

With the win Lock Haven remains unbeaten at 2-0, while West Chester falls to 1-2.

Greg Shertzer (Lebanon, Pa./Cedar Crest) opened the scoring when he converted a penalty kick in the 27th minute.

West Chester knotted the game at 1-1 late in the first half after Jake Maxwell scored in the 31st minute.

Mark Tattersall (Erie, Pa./Cathedral Prep) scored the eventual game-winner in the 49th minute after knocking in a long pass from Paul Brungard (Howard, Pa./Central Mountain).

Chad Badorf (Lancaster, Pa./Manheim Township) made three saves in the win.

Lightning in the vicinity of West Chester's Farrell Stadium forced the game to be delayed with 3:19 remaining. NCAA rules indicate that a game, which has been delayed, cannot re-start more than three-hours after it originally began – in this case 2 p.m. NCAA rules also indicate there is a mandatory 30-minute delay from the last lightning strike in a weather delay before an all-clear can be declared and play can resume. The last lightning strike in the delay happened at 4:35 p.m.

LHU returns to action on Saturday, September 10 at 12:30 p.m. when the Bald Eagles host Millersville University in the men's 2011 home opener.
