LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University wrestling team hits the road again this Friday, January 27 to take on Eastern Wrestling League (EWL) rival West Virginia University.
Setting the stage:
The Bald Eagles, 3-7 overall and 0-2 EWL, head to WVU for a 7:30 match on Friday night. Lock Haven is coming off a 28-6 loss to No. 21 Edinboro at home last Friday.
West Virginia enters Friday's match 4-3 overall and 1-1 in EWL action. The Moutaineers are coming off a hard-fought 23-20 EWL-win over Clarion last weekend. WVU won six bouts on the night to pick up its first EWL win of the year. West Virginia opened EWL action with a 25-10 loss to Bloomsburg University.
The series:
Despite dominating the series early, LHU trails WVU 14-19 all-time. Lock Haven has lost six straight matches against West Virginia, including last year's match.
On Friday, LHU will be looking for its first win over the Mountaineers since 2005 (W, 21-19).
Last year, LHU fell 33-5 after managing just two wins on the night.

Aaron Fry and
Seth Creasy posted back-to-back wins at 157 and 165, but it wasn't enough to spark the Bald Eagles.
The match started at 184 pounds and the Fighting Scots won the first seven bouts of the match. Edinboro took home eight of 10 bouts on the night and closed things out with a fall at 174.
