Bald Eagles rally for pair of late goals, but edged by STA, 3-2

Box Score SPARKILL, N.Y. – The Lock Haven University men's soccer team (5-8-1) rallied midway through the second half for a pair of goals, but the Bald Eagles fell to host Saint Thomas Aquinas (4-5-3) 3-2 today in non-conference action.

The Bald Eagles, who were playing for the second time in as many days trailed 3-0 in the second half, but fought back.

Midway through the second half, Lock Haven got a pair of quick strikes from Trent Burris (McAlisterville, Pa./East Juniata) and Bobby Mohr (Erie, Pa./Cathedral Prep) to make it 3-2.

Brad Sumski (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin) and Jonathan Howitt (Painted Post, N.Y./Corning-Painted Post East) each saw time in goal and combined for four saves.

After leading 2-0 at halftime, STA made it 3-0 in the 53 minute. The Haven rally ended after LHU's second goal in the 71st minute of play as STA earned the three points at home.

Lock Haven returns to action on Wednesday, October 17 at the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown (2 p.m.).
