SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.V. – The Lock Haven University baseball team (3-5-1) tied with Indiana (Pa.) University (3-4-1) 4-4 today as the game was called due to darkness on the final day of the Shepherd Tournament in Shepherdstown, West Virginia.
LHU led 4-1 through seven innings of play, but IUP was able to score three runs in their final two at bats to tie the game 4-4 before the umpires determined that it was too dark to finish.
The game marked the first tie for the Bald Eagles since April 2, 2002 when LHU tied California (Pa.) University 2-2.
Brandon Renoll (Hanover, Pa./Hanover) got the start on the mound for the LHU and put together a solid performance.
Renoll gave up just one run and struck out four batters in seven strong innings of work.
Jay Hartman (Lewistown, Pa./Indian Valley) went 4-for-4 at the plate to lead the Bald Eagles offensively. He also scored two runs.
Scott Zuback (Mill Hall, Pa./Central Mountain) went 1-for-3 on the day with a double.
Cory Dorman (Mifflinburg, Pa./Alleghany College of Maryland) went 1-for-4 and drove in two RBIs.
Kevin Cressman (Huntingdon, Pa./Mansfield University) and
Austin Botts (Seven Valleys, Pa./Wingate University) also had RBIs for The Haven.
Dakota Roof (Towanda, Pa./Towanda) recorded two hits on the day as he went 2-for-4.
The Bald Eagles return to action this Saturday (March 10) when they travel to Florida to kick off their annual spring break trip against Missouri St. Louis.
