LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Elyse Fisher (Jackson, N.J./Jackson Memorial) scored five goals,
Kayleigh Johnson (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) tallied eight points and the Lady Eagles offense surged late as the No. 10 Lock Haven University lacrosse team (7-4, 5-1 PSAC) earned a thrilling 14-11 win over visiting Gannon University (7-5, 5-2 PSAC) in a crucial PSAC matchup.
Fisher led Lock Haven with five goals which give her a team-high 38 on the season.
Johnson netted the hat trick and dished out five assists for the eight-point outing.
Julie Moran (Unionville, Pa./Unionville) added two goals and
Chelsea Borrino (Webster, N.Y./Webster Thomas) scored one goal to go along with two assists.
Emily Cilla (Kings Park, N.Y./Kings Park),
Gwen Buss (Harrisburg, Pa./Mercersburg Academy) and
Rachel Ward (Fishers, Ind./Bishop Chatard) all scored for The Haven.
Lock Haven was in command at half, leading 7-3, but Gannon opened the second half on a roll, netting the first three goals of the second period.
With 17:48 to play it was 8-8, but The Haven offense slowly pulled away from the Golden Knights to earn the important PSAC win.
Heather Sacko (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) made six saves on the way to the victory.
Jackie Macone (Jackson, N.J./Jackson Memorial) led Lock Haven on defense. She had two ground balls and two caused turnovers.
The Lady Eagles defense forced nine Gannon turnovers, which was a huge key for LHU.
Lock Haven hits the road on Saturday (April 14) to take on Mecryhurst University at 5:30 p.m.
