#10 Lady Eagles roll past rival Mercyhurst 15-6 in PSAC action

Gwen Buss nets six goals; Kayleigh Johnson has 10-point game

ERIE, Pa.  – The trio of Gwen Buss (Harrisburg, Pa./Mercersburg Academy), Elyse Fisher (Jackson, N.J./Jackson Memorial) and Kayleigh Johnson (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) accounted for 13 of the Lady Eagles 15 goals to lead the No. 10 Lock Haven University lacrosse team (8-4, 6-1 PSAC) past rival Mercyhurst University (8-5, 6-2 PSAC) 15-6 in a critical conference matchup.

The win keeps Lock Haven at the top of the PSAC standings.

Buss netted six goals and Johnson had a 10-point game. Johnson scored a hat trick and dished out seven assists.

Fisher netted four goals.

Lock Haven also got another solid defensive effort as the Lady Eagles caused nine turnovers on the way to the win.

Lindsay Walbrandt (Souderton, Pa./Souderton) led the way on defense as she recorded four of LHU's nine caused turnovers. She also grabbed three ground balls.

Cilla was all over the field for Lock Haven in an all-around spectacular effort. She had three caused turnovers, four ground balls and five draw controls.

Heather Sacko (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) was brilliant once again between the pipes. She made five stunning saves on the way to the win as she held down the fort in goal.

With 20:33 to go in the first half Lock Haven led 2-1, but the Lady Eagles offense took flight and rattled off seven goals to close the half. LHU led 9-1 at halftime on the way to the lopsided win.

The Lady Eagles return to action on Tuesday, April 17 at 4 p.m. in their final regular season home match of the season. Lock Haven has a pair of road games scheduled for next weekend including a clash with rival and ninth-ranked West Chester on Friday (April 20) and a matchup with Kutztown on Saturday.
